For companies

Put your CSR funds to work in Thane

Indian companies spent ₹40,794 crore on CSR in 2024–25, and roughly a fifth of it went to healthcare. Very little of that reaches the housing societies and small workplaces where a screening camp actually changes an outcome. That is the gap we work in.

Questions

Before you give

The things people ask us most often about donating to the Foundation.

How will my donation be used?

It goes into the three things the Foundation actually does: free and subsidised health screening camps, charitable medical and surgical procedures for patients who cannot afford them, and continuing medical education for doctors and other practitioners.

Unless a specific appeal says otherwise, we treat a donation as unrestricted and put it where the need is greatest that month — which is usually consumables and diagnostics for the next camp. If you would rather your contribution went to one particular programme, say so in the form and we will confirm in writing whether we can honour it.

Is my donation eligible for tax deduction?

Not at the moment — and we would rather tell you that here than have you discover it at filing time.

Synergy Health Foundation is a registered public charitable trust, registered with the Income Tax Department under section 12AB of the Income-tax Act, 1961 by order in Form 10AC. That registration exempts the Foundation’s own income from tax, which means more of what you give stays in the work rather than going back out as tax.

Donor deduction is a different provision — section 80G — and it requires a separate approval. Registration under 12AB is the prerequisite for applying, and we are pursuing 80G now. If a deduction is material to your decision, write to us and we will tell you exactly where that application stands rather than guess at a date.

Every contribution is receipted either way. Our Donation Policy sets out how receipts work and what would change once 80G approval is in place.

Can our company contribute through CSR funds?

We would like to, and it is worth being straight with you about how the plumbing works before you plan anything.

Under Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013, qualifying companies must spend at least 2% of average net profit on CSR, and health sits squarely in Schedule VII. Since April 2021, that money can only be routed through an implementing agency registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in Form CSR-1 — and CSR-1 registration in turn requires both 12AB registration and 80G approval under the Income-tax Act.

We hold 12AB registration. 80G approval is the remaining piece and we are working on it. Until it is in place, the honest position is that we are not yet able to receive CSR funds as a registered implementing agency, and any company that tells you otherwise is not reading Rule 4 carefully.

What we can do now is partner on delivery — you run the project, we bring the clinicians, the equipment and the camp logistics, and you get the attendance and outcome reporting your Board's annual CSR report needs. Write to us and we will tell you precisely where our registrations stand and send your compliance team the trust deed, registration certificates and accounts.

How and when do I get a receipt?

Once we can see the contribution in the Foundation's records, we issue an acknowledgement by email to the address you give us. It confirms what you gave, when, and what it is going towards.

An acknowledgement is not the same thing as a tax certificate, and as things stand donations to the Foundation are not eligible for a deduction — see the question above. If and when 80G approval comes through, we will issue the prescribed certificate to donors it applies to, which needs your PAN and full address.

If a receipt has not reached you within a reasonable time, email synergyfoundationhealth@gmail.com with the transaction reference and we will trace it.

Can I help without giving money?

Often the more useful thing. Housing societies and employers can host a screening camp — you give us the space and the people, we bring the clinicians and the equipment. Doctors and nurses can volunteer at camps or teach on a CME programme. Hospitals, diagnostic labs and other NGOs can partner with us on subsidised surgeries and referrals.

Choose the option that fits in the form above and tell us roughly what you have in mind. We reply to everything within two working days.
